**** Thanks to all who participated in our post-session survey and to those who have provided constructive criticism of this site. We are in the process of making many exciting improvements to this site for the 2001 session! **** THE 56th SESSION of the MONTANA LEGISLATURE ADJOURNED on APRIL 21, 1999. OFFICIAL SCORECARD: 719 House bills & resolutions were introduced; 344 became law, including portions of HB 14, which received a governor line-item veto (legislature failed in an attempt to override the line-item veto) and 375 bills failed, including HB 91 & HB 350, which were vetoed (no override). 562 Senate bills and resolutions were introduced; 304 became law (including SB 441-- on which the legislature overrode the governor's veto) and 258 bills failed. ****NEED ACCESS TO THE BILLS THAT HAVE BECOME LAW? Each approved bill is assigned a "session law chapter number" by the Secretary of State. If you need a list of these "session laws" or the actual text of the bills, or BOTH, you can get this information from our LAWS system. Here's how: -- To access a report listing chapter numbers, along with each chapter number's corresponding bill number and effective date, click Session Law List. You can then download and print this list if you wish. -- To download the WP 5.1 text for a specific chapter number, click Session Law Chapter Number Document List to display the chapter number list . Highlight a chapter number and then download it for viewing or printing. Session law chapter number text is actually the text of the enrolled bill assigned to that chapter number.**** |
